Why should you cite resources in your research paper? It is because that is the way you acknowledge that other people have influenced your ideas. At the same time, it also allows those who read your work to locate your sources. Citing resources is essential to give proper credit to the author of the work (books, journals, or Web sites, and etc.) and to avoid plagiarism.
University-Wide Literary Style The most recent edition of Kate L. Turabian’s A Manual for Writers of Term Papers, Theses, and Dissertations is the basic manual of style for the writing of formal papers. Turabian allows for footnotes, endnotes, or parenthetical references. Each division and degree program may specify the kind of documentation it requires. Faculty members may specify exceptions to these standards for particular assignments as necessary.
